Korea Global Research Talent Programs 2026: Brain Pool (BP/BP+) and Research Position in Korea (RPiK)

Korea Innovation Center Washington DC (KIC DC) is pleased to share information on Korea’s global research talent programs, supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) and the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF).

These initiatives are designed to strengthen international research collaboration, expand global talent mobility, and enhance Korea’s national R&D competitiveness through structured engagement with overseas researchers and institutions.

This overview introduces two key programs:

The Brain Pool (BP) and Brain Pool Plus (BP+) programs, which support 1:1 and institutional-level joint research collaborations between overseas researchers and Korean principal investigators and research organizations. These programs aim to facilitate sustained international research cooperation and strengthen institutional research capacity in Korea.

In addition, the Research Position in Korea (RPiK) platform serves as a centralized matching system connecting overseas researchers with Korean laboratories and institutions. It supports recruitment, research placement, and ongoing collaboration opportunities across disciplines.

Together, these programs reflect Korea’s continued commitment—supported by MSIT and NRF—to fostering global research exchange and building a more connected international R&D ecosystem.

Full program details are available in the attached document.
